Preschool

It is our goal to provide a learning environment that is safe and that will nurture, develop and equip children with skills that will foster development.  Preschoolers work on basic language/literacy skills by learning both first and last name, the sounds of the letters, to use printing as a form of communication, and to begin to identify letters and words in their environment.  In Math students learn to go from left to right and top to bottom, to count, to identify numbers from 1 to 10, about shapes, patterns, and sequencing.  Science is provided through hands on activities that foster curiosity through exploration in life science, physical science, the human body, and earth science.  Socially, students will begin to demonstrate logical thinking, to follow classroom rules and make good behavior choices, to express their feelings, and to interact with peers.

Kindergarten Readiness

We have a morning and an afternoon class that meet from 8:30 to 11:30 or 12:30 to 3:30 each day.  Students work on skills that will get them ready for Kindergarten such as recognizing letters and their sounds, numbers, counting, writing, social skills, cutting, gluing and much more.  We use a phonics based approach to reading and, once the students have mastered the letter names and sounds, we work on blending and reading one vowel words.   We include prayer and a Bible lesson each day as well as discussions about God's role in other areas of our curriculum.  At the end of the school year we have a graduation ceremony to recognize their hard work and entrance into Kindergarten.

Kindergarten

Kindergarten meets all-day every-day.  It is here that the business of Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies takes on form in earnest.  All students are assessed before the start of the school year so that the teacher is ready to meet their needs and get them on the road to a solid foundation in the academic subjects.  As in all of our classes, God is a central focus and the students will learn who He is and how He is a part of everything they are learning and will ever learn.

Level A

Students in this class range from 6 to 8 years old.  Students at this age often work in small groups and receive a lot of individual instruction.  Learning centers are also a key aspect of the student's day because of the reinforcement that learning centers allow for key concepts.  Students begin each day with prayer and devotions.  Students learn about Jesus through Scripture memory and Bible stories and by participating in Bible Quizzing and chapel services.  Biblical concepts are woven throughout all curriculum areas.

Level B

Students in Level B, ages 8-10 are growing in many ways and have been guided step by step in their learning up to this point.  Now it is time for them to start to become independent learners, taking responsibility for homework, class projects, and other activities.  Individual instruction is, of course, still a part of their day, but they are encouraged more and more to process the things they are learning and to apply them in their work and play.

Level C

Goal setting and completion is an important part of what students in this level now need to add to their ability pallette.  They are growing "in wisdom and stature" as reach ages 10-12.   Language Arts and Mathematics become increasingly more challenging.  Science and Social Studies are looked at critically and analytically.  And through all this mental and physical growth, students are guided to continue to look to God for strength and direction in everything they do.
